Description

Slow Cooker Garlic Butter Steak Bites are tender, flavorful, and cooked low and slow in a rich garlic-butter sauce with sweet onions. Made with sirloin or chuck roast, this comforting crockpot dinner is perfect over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 4 pounds Sirloin Steak or Chuck Roast, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Kosher Salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika, not the hot one
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil, divided

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 large Sweet Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Low Sodium Beef Broth
  • 1-ounce packet Au Jus Gravy Mix
  • 6 cloves Garlic, pressed
  • 5 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, sliced
  • Chopped Fresh Parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: In a large bowl, season the bite-sized steak cubes with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to evenly coat the meat with the seasonings.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in batches and sear them on all sides until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the thinly sliced onion until translucent. Add the pressed garlic cloves and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Combine Ingredients in Slow Cooker: Transfer the seared steak and sautéed onions and garlic into the slow cooker. Add beef broth and sprinkle the Au Jus gravy mix over the top. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Cook in Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on low for 7 hours or until the steak is tender and infused with flavors.
  6. Add Butter and Finish: About 15 minutes before serving, add the sliced unsalted butter to the slow cooker and stir until melted and blended into the sauce.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the steak bites before serving. Best served over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice.

Notes

  • The slow cooking process makes the steak incredibly tender and flavorful.
  • You can substitute sirloin steak with chuck roast for a more budget-friendly option.
  • Adjust salt according to your preference since Au Jus mix may contain sodium.
  • For a thicker sauce, remove lid for last 30 minutes of cooking to let some liquid evaporate.
  • Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or steamed rice for a complete meal.
