Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 1 kg chicken wings
- 1 level tbsp aluminium-free baking powder
- ½ tsp table salt
- ½ tsp pepper
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- 90 g unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 50 g parmesan, finely grated
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- ¼ tsp table salt (optional)
- ¼ tsp pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps achieve crispiness during cooking.
- Season the Wings: In a large bowl, toss the wings with aluminium-free baking powder, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper until evenly coated. The baking powder raises the pH of the skin to promote browning and crisping.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.
- Cook the Wings: Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook for 35 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the wings halfway through to ensure even crisping.
- Make the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: While the wings cook, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté gently until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, making sure not to burn it. Remove from heat and stir in the grated parmesan, dried parsley, ¼ tsp salt (optional), and ¼ tsp pepper.
- Toss Wings in Sauce: Once the wings are cooked and crispy, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the garlic parmesan sauce over the wings and toss well to coat evenly.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the wings immediately while hot and crispy for the best flavor and texture. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.
Notes
- Aluminium-free baking powder is essential for crispiness; do not substitute with baking soda.
- Patting the wings dry before seasoning removes moisture and helps the skin crisp up.
- Adjust salt in the garlic parmesan sauce to taste; omit if you prefer less salt.
- Shaking or turning wings halfway during air frying promotes even cooking and crispiness.
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic sauce for a spicy kick.
- Serve with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese dressing as classic accompaniments.
