Description

Crispy and flavorful Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings cooked in the air fryer, perfect for parties or a delicious snack. These wings are seasoned with a light coating of baking powder for extra crispiness and tossed in a rich garlic butter and parmesan sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 1 level tbsp aluminium-free baking powder
  • ½ tsp table salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 90 g unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50 g parmesan, finely grated
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp table salt (optional)
  • ¼ tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps achieve crispiness during cooking.
  2. Season the Wings: In a large bowl, toss the wings with aluminium-free baking powder, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper until evenly coated. The baking powder raises the pH of the skin to promote browning and crisping.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Cook the Wings: Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook for 35 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the wings halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  5. Make the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: While the wings cook, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté gently until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, making sure not to burn it. Remove from heat and stir in the grated parmesan, dried parsley, ¼ tsp salt (optional), and ¼ tsp pepper.
  6. Toss Wings in Sauce: Once the wings are cooked and crispy, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the garlic parmesan sauce over the wings and toss well to coat evenly.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the wings immediately while hot and crispy for the best flavor and texture. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Aluminium-free baking powder is essential for crispiness; do not substitute with baking soda.
  • Patting the wings dry before seasoning removes moisture and helps the skin crisp up.
  • Adjust salt in the garlic parmesan sauce to taste; omit if you prefer less salt.
  • Shaking or turning wings halfway during air frying promotes even cooking and crispiness.
  • You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Serve with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese dressing as classic accompaniments.
