Description

These Crispy Baked Avocado Fries are a delicious and healthy snack or side dish featuring ripe avocado slices coated in panko breadcrumbs and baked to golden perfection. Served with a smoky chipotle dipping sauce, they offer a satisfying crunch with creamy avocado inside.

Ingredients

Scale

Avocado Fries

  • 2 large avocados, sliced
  • Juice of 1/2 lime (optional)
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Chipotle Dipping Sauce

  • Use your preferred chipotle dipping sauce or refer to the linked recipe for homemade sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour 1 tablespoon of oil into a sheet tray or baking dish and set aside to grease the pan.
  2. Prepare Avocados: Squeeze fresh lime juice over the avocado slices to prevent browning, then season with salt and pepper according to taste.
  3. Coat Avocados: Dredge each avocado slice first in flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly with panko bread crumbs, ensuring each slice is well covered.
  4. Arrange and Oil: Place the coated avocado slices in a single layer on the greased sheet pan. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil over the slices, or alternatively spray them with cooking spray to help achieve crispiness.
  5. Bake: Bake the avocado fries for 15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. For extra crispness, you may drizzle additional oil over them halfway through baking.
  6. Serve: Serve the crispy avocado fries warm with chipotle dipping sauce, ranch, ketchup, or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • Using lime juice is optional but helps keep the avocado slices from browning during baking.
  • Make sure to coat the avocado slices well with panko crumbs for maximum crispiness.
  • You can substitute panko bread crumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs to make the recipe gluten-free.
  • This recipe makes a great snack or side dish rich in healthy fats and fiber.
  • If you want extra crispy fries, consider using a cooking spray in addition to drizzling oil.
